At the THG we encourage visits by schools and other groups. Whatever type of visit would suit your group we are here to help you make the most of your time at the gallery.

You may want to bring a group for a self guided tour or we can offer:

  • A free gallery talk/tour by the THG Curator
  • Artist lead workshops relating to the gallery exhibition
  • Use of the Learning Room for seminars, workshops or more informal learning sessions

The gallery is free to visit and many of our workshops are offered free or at reduced rates for local schools. Workshops are now held in our dedicated Learning Room.

Please note: all group visits must be pre-booked with the gallery, please email or ring to let us know when you’d like to visit.

‘The children were completely absorbed by the gallery displays and the weaving itself. It enabled them to develop a practical skill as well as to be creative. I think being able to have a go at such a craft in a gallery setting is really important in inspiring them and they clearly loved it!’  Primary school teacher on visiting the gallery for a talk and workshop with Year 3 & 4 pupils
