Introduction to African and Indian embroidery

Embroider and paint on authentic Ugandan fabric to create a cushion cover, decorative item to wear or to place on an artist’s canvas.
To accompany our 'British Ugandan Asian at 50' exhibition, we are thrilled to welcome Bristol-based artist Harshinder Sirah to lead this inspiring workshop.

Harshinder arrived in Honiton in 1972, seeking refuge after fleeing the Idi Amin regime in Uganda, she is looking forward to coming back:
“I am so excited to be given the opportunity to return to Honiton, where I was a child refugee in the camp at Heathfield… to be able to share my love, passion and joy as an artist and designer.”
