A new artwork has been created in a collaboration between Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) and Honiton Town Council as part of THG’s Create Our Space youth project.
Create Our Space aims to inspire local young people to engage in creative experiences to build new skills and increase their confidence.
A new artwork installation was created by Year 9 students at Honiton Community College in THG workshops working with graphic artist, George Barron, during the summer.
The students were invited by Honiton Town Council to showcase the wide range of activities on offer in Honiton from boxing to tennis, archery to pottery, and of course art. There were many more than the students imagined!
THG commissioned George Barron, an expert printmaker based at Positive Lights in Exeter, to work with the students. George encouraged them to experiment with different print processes including letter press, monoprint and screenprinting to produce multi-coloured collages.
The installation is part of a reworking of the area in front of the Beehive spearheaded by Honiton Town Council and is now in situ for all to see.
